RIP Esteban

Another busy and somewhat sad week around the Lohaus home. We have had a gecko since before Madelyn was born, his name is Esteban. Seems like a silly little thing but the kids really like watching him and feeding him crickets. Once Clyde left our house getting crickets was the only reason for us to visit the pet store and they really like doing that. Saturday afternoon Andy looked in the aquarium to discover a no longer living Esteban :-(  Everybody was a little sad so we put him in a box and buried him in the back yard. Both kids drew a picture for him to put in his box.
This past weekend was our 6 year wedding anniversary. It wasn't fancy like last year, but we just spent time together as a family and that's what's important.
Carson is really getting good at using the potty. He is telling me he has to go and even pooped on the big potty this week! I bought him some pull ups so going in public isn't as challenging and he is managing to keep those dry through shopping trips. Some days I feel very confident he will be potty trained soon, but we definitely have more set backs than I would like. He is really missing day care and his friends. He asks me daily when he can go back and I hate telling him he won't be back for a few months.
We went shopping this week for Madelyn's school supplies. Such a bittersweet moment! I had so much fun (the school nerd in me) picking out her folders and notebooks, but she is growing up and that makes me sad. She is going to have such a great year though and learn so much.
Zoey is really starting to smile at us more. She still needs lots of sleep, but when she's awake we definitely soak up as much of her as we can. Madelyn loves to read to her and show her toys and Carson likes to sing her songs and rub her head. I just like talking to her and watching her adorable little facial reactions. I am also using her sleepy time to get in quality time with the older 2.
