germs germs go away

Our house is germ infested! Last week Carson developed a little cough and sounded like he was having trouble breathing so as a scared mama I took him to the doctor. He tested negative for rsv but the doctor was really unhappy with how his lungs sounded :( She prescribed him some albuterol breathing treatments and said if he didn't start sounding better by bedtime we needed to take him to the ER. That is a scary thing to hear about a 7 week old baby. The treatments really helped him though, thank goodness. Madelyn had a little bit of it too but it wasn't as serious since she's a little older. We just used saline spray with her and she was breathing okay. All the sickness turned me into a nut....using lysol and clorox wipes and boiling pacifiers and hand washing/sanitizing like a crazy woman. I washed every blanket or stuffed animal the kids touched every day and as soon as an article of clothing was removed it was put directly in the wash. We seem to finally be on the mend now, with only a little bit of sniffling hanging around. When Madelyn was a baby she didn't leave the house and we had very few visitors until she was 8 weeks old and had built some immunity. I was much more liberal with Carson and visitors and taking him out and I regret that now, but it's hindsight.
So what else is new?
Madelyn: Madelyn is 28 months old! She is an amazing little girl and I love her more everyday. Her vocabulary expands each day and she learns so much. We joke that she speaks Yoda because she often gets her words twisted up, "hold you me", "tuck in me", "likes mommy's food daddy", etc. She tells us that she has to do certain things because she is the big sister, not a baby. She likes to get in and out of the bath by herself, buckle her own carseat, help with cooking dinner, and many other things. We have gone a little backwards with potty training. I am convinced she can do it, but has accidents on purpose because she knows I have to stop what I'm doing and clean up if she has one. It's an attention thing which I guess is expected with a new baby around. I plan on just continuing to work with her and take it one day at a time.
Carson: Carson is 2 months old now! I'm not sure where the time is going....My maternity leave is officially half over and it makes me so sad. I treasure this time with my babies and even though I know they will be in good hands it breaks my heart to be away from them for such long hours. I was super stressed with my job and one kids, I can't imagine the awful person I'll be with my job and 2 kids. It is going to take a lot of reminders to myself that family comes first. At Carson's check up he was 12.4 pounds and 22.5 inches long. He is in 3 month clothes and size 1 diapers and growing super fast. He has been smiling so much lately it just melts my heart. This week he has really found his voice and is making lots of baby noises at us. He loves to "talk" to Madelyn. Tonight I started his bedtime routine. Madelyn gets ready from 7:30-8:30 and then Carson gets 8:30-9:30. He played while I did Madelyn's bedtime routine and then I did bath, books, nurse, and paci/bed for him. By 9:15 both kids were in bed asleep. Pretty good for my first night :) Now I am sitting here next to Carson (he is in a cosleeper in our bed for now because he doesn't sleep well alone) popping the pacifier back in his mouth every 10 minutes because he woke up and I don't want to take him back to a lit up or noisy area...trying  to show him that it's night and time for bed, but we'll see how this goes....
