Due date

Tomorrow is November 6th. It's a big day because that was Madelyn's original due date! She will be 40 weeks tomorrow :) We all know that didn't happen though, and on Saturday she will have already been here with us for 4 weeks. She grows so much everyday and I just can't put into words how much I am cherishing all the time I have with her right now and how much she needs and loves me. I love every minute of it and wish this time would never end. She is already growing out of her premie clothes and moving into newborn sized things. The premie things still fit, but a little tighter than what looks comfortable. The newborn outfits are a little big, but starting to fit so that's what we are putting her in now. I am excited to see her growing, but sad too :(
The past week has been crazy because sleep is becoming more and more of a luxury. Now that Madelyn is a few weeks old she is becoming more awake and aware. I love her eyes being open and interacting so much, but it means a lot less sleep. She wants to always be held. I LOVE cuddling with her, and she would sleep perfectly on my chest but I can not sleep with her there. We had a few nights of almost no sleep. Last night I finally got her in her bassinet and wrapped in a blanket (confused her into thinking she was being held) and she slept there for about 2 hours. She slept about 3 different 2 hour increments in her bassinet, which is much better than the beginning of the week when I couldn't get her in there for 10 minutes without her crying. I am so excited, but I also know that babies change day to day and tonight that may not work...we'll see I guess. Like everything else, it will just take time and persistence and lots of afternoon naps :)
Tuesday afternoon Bev, Brandy, and Brittany West came by to bring dinner and visit Madelyn. It was nice to see all of them and the food they brought was delicious! I like seeing my friends and showing off my beautiful daughter.
She is eating a LOT better now. She naturally fusses to eat about every 2 to 2.5 hours and then nurses for 30-40 minutes. This is very different from the days I was pushing her to nurse for 10 minutes every 3 hours. Again, just a sign that she is growing! We have her one month check up coming up and I can't wait to see how much she weighs now. Until then though I'm just going to continue to love on her and enjoy every single moment!
