9 Months

Madelyn turned 9 months old on July 10th. She is getting so big, which is very bittersweet. I love watching her learn new things and develop as a person, but my baby is not a baby anymore. At her checkup she weighed 15 pounds 1 ounce (3rd percentile) and was 26.5 inches long (10th percentile). She is my itty bitty girl and I wouldn't have it any other way. She is slowly growing into her 6 month clothes and she is doing everything a 9 month old should do, so it really doesn't matter if she is tiny. I think about how she has been living on her own now longer than the 36 weeks I carried her and that is just so hard to believe. Everyday it seems she is trying something new. She has been eating a lot more finger foods and stage 3 baby food (the kind with chunks in it). She doesn't seem to have any weirdness about food textures, so we are lucky. Her diet is still primarily breast milk and I am SO proud of us for making it to 9 months....3 more months and I will be thrilled. It has been somewhat of a sacrifice at times, but I feel so happy to have been able to provide the best for my child for so long.
Last week we took her to the lake by our house for the first time. We walked on a little trail and let her play at the lake for a bit. She reaffirmed the fact that she is going to be my little fish!

Speaking of fish.... last week the giant Nemo from Andy's aunt and uncle arrived. Madelyn was very excited! She loves the thing and it is so much bigger than her, it's cute to watch her play with it. She also got a lot of enjoyment out of the box it came in, so it was double the fun!

In other Madelyn news, she cut another tooth this week. It is her 3rd tooth and it is on the top right. She is also moving faster every day and now pulls herself up on EVERYTHING. Saturday night she woke up crying and I went in her room before I checked the monitor. When I opened the door she was standing, yes I said standing, there in her crib looking at me. I guess it's a good thing Andy lowered her crib mattress earlier that evening.
This used to be Clyde's window to look out, but it seems to have been taken over. I still get nervous about her standing by the window like that. I know I have to learn to let her fall a few times so she will learn, but I have a hard time with that. I just sit right there by her and if she wobbles I catch her.
This is what her entertainment was today. She pulled herself up on the wine fridge and was banging on the door. Looks like she will be a wine drinker like mommy some day :)
We have retired the baby tub and Madelyn sits in our big tub now, such a big girl. So she was sitting in the tub last night and she passed gas SO loud making lots of bubbles. When I looked at her and said "What did you do?" she threw her hands up in the air in the "so big" position and just smiled from ear to ear. It was one of the funniest things she has done, so I had to share! Love her so much!
